A hit and a miss

Ok, so this morning I tried my chia seed concoction.

Can't say I would recommend it.  Thankfully I just made a very small batch.  I'm definitely going to keep looking for a different combo.  This mixture was chia seeds, water, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.  I think it's safe to say that I didn't have a clue what I was doing!

Any thoughts on better concoctions to make with the chia seeds?  Of course, the easiest is to toss them into anything, but I'd be curious about a more main dish type recipe.  I may try the chiapioca pudding

On to more exciting news.  I found two exciting items at the grocery store last night.

Target's brand now makes their own dark chocolate peanut butter.  The ingredients list is excellent and only what's needed.  I may sound like I'm gushing cause I'm in loooove!  Serendipitously, I also happen to be making a big ol' thumbs up as I hold the jar.  Oh, and for the reduce, reuse, recycle benefits, the jar is glass and will be perfect for storing more delicious treats once the PB is devoured.

Here's the other great discovery.  Silk now makes an almond milk (or maybe they always have and my store just stocked it).  Even better, it's at the great Silk prices.  A full couple bucks cheaper than any others that I've found.  It gives me hope that I'll be able to keep us stocked with soy milk and almond milk on a regular basis without landing in the poorhouse.  Especially with Irish's ravenous appetite for dairy-like substances!

And onto the other goodness of tonight, a new twist on a tasty s'mores banana hammock.

Ants at the Picnic S'mores Banana Hammock

Banana, split in half
Dark chocolate peanut butter
Caramel sauce swirl
Marshmallow bits
Raisins

Melt for approx 25 seconds
It smelled like fresh cookies!

A nice big juicy naner, split wide open.

Slathered in chocolate peanut butter and swirled over with caramel sauce.

Add the marshmallow polka dots. (I checked the ingredients; sadly the ones I had on hand were not vegan because of the gelatin.)

Finally, allow the raisins to reign on your parade picnic!  Notice the light meltiness to the hammock.

ZOMG!  It was heavenly!  Irish begged for a bite and he loved it, too!

It's definitely more of an after dinner hammock, a dessert hammock if you will.  I love that with the melted banana and melted chocolate PB, it almost tasted a little toasted like a true s'mores.

Cuddle up with one of these babies tonight!

chia stuff...
Ok i have had TONS of chia failures.
1. chiaseedsdirect has the best seeds and they never "fail" on me. WF's do.
2. Dont add vanilla ext or any other alcohol til the END of the recipe b/c i personally think it causes failure.

Thank you so very much for the information!!! I definitely picked up some tips from your recipes, like leaving it out for a little while, re-stirring it, waiting on the extract, etc to help it soak up first. I think the pudding recipes look amazing, and will probably make one of those my next chia recipes.

And I'm glad you liked the banana hammock! It was incredible :) I appreciate your feedback and comments so much!
